Take an appointment with the visas service

Filing a visa application is done by appointment only. Here’s what to do

The Visa Section is located at the French Embassy, Plateau Atemengue BP 309 - Yaounde - Cameroon

How to make an appointment ?

Taking appointment to submit for visa applications is done using a phone card "BANTOU" that you can buy at the counters of :

- * CAMPOST (post offices in Cameroon)
- * General Society Cameroon (SGC) - All agencies

This card has a PIN. It costs 5000 FCFA and allows two calls with unlimited validity.

The not surcharged number of the provider responsible for appointments is : 222 22 51 61
This number is accessible from any phone, fixed or mobile, from any country in the world (by adding the prefix 237 of Cameroon).

In case of congestion, and only then, you can also make an appointment by using the number : 222 22 20 44.

The validity of the card is not limited in time and the code can continue to be used to make new appointments if credit is not exhausted.

In which consulate must you take an appointment ?

You must apply for your visa at the consulate that serves your home.

So if you live in one of these areas, you must file your application in the consular section of the Embassy of France in Yaounde :

  • Adamawa
  • Centre except Nyong and Kelle division
  • East
  • Far North
  • North
  • South except Ocean Division

If you live in one of these areas, you must file your application in the general consulate of France in Douala even if your passport has been issued in Yaoundé :

  • Littoral
  • West
  • North West
  • South West
  • Departments of Ocean and Nyong and Kelle

If your main destination is not France, check in which Schengen consulate you must file your application.

When must you take an appointment ?

The Visa strives to process applications within 48 hours but additional checks, a growing number of requests or technical problems may extend these deadlines. We recommend that you make an appointment sufficiently in advance of your planned departure date to avoid disappointment. The filing of an application is possible from 3 months before the departure date.

Similarly, it is found a flood of applications at the approach of summer and winter, periods of school holidays. Obtaining an appointment can then exceed a reasonable time, whereas during other periods it is limited to a few days. Accordingly, applicants are encouraged to make arrangements to file their claims with sufficient advance to avoid having to delay their departure.

The student exception

Applicants for student visa can occur without appointment at the opening of the service (8am to 10am) after confirmation of their application by Campus France.

Prepare well your coming to the consulate

Thank you to submit all documents and evidence needed on the day of your appointment. No document sent to the visa by another route can be taken into account.

TTo build your case properly, check the list of required documents based on your need.

Note that only visa service officers are authorized to charge you additional documentation and no external intermediary is approved for visas.
